Well, I thought things could not get more interesting in my life… but I was WRONG!
:Late last night, I got out of bed to make my way to the bathroom and WHAM! I lost my balance and collapsed on the hard fake wood floor. I landed on my left knee HARD! Jason heard it in the other room. He helped me up and back into bed because I could not put ANY weight on it. Upon waking in the morning, I managed to get dressed and brush my teeth but as I was doing that I got this EXCRUCIATING pain in my left knee and literally could not move. Jason got me into my desk chair which has wheels on it and wheeled me over to the elevator, down three floors, through the apartment lobby and out the front door, almost dumping me out when we hit the brick walkway. We then went to the emergency room where I spent half of the day. Three X-rays later, the doctor told me that nothing was broken BUT there was extreme bruising and swelling under the kneecap. They wrapped it in an ace bandage, tried to get me to walk with crutches – well, because my compressed spinal cord makes me lose my balance a lot, the crutches were a BIG no – I almost fell again trying to learn how to use them. So, the gave me a WALKER, charged me a $150.00 copay, and sent me on my way…
After dropping me off at the emergency room, Jason had to go to the auto mechanic for an appointment he had. Well, they ended up having to replace something called a “coolant reservoir and hose” because it had a massive leak. Well, luckily (I guess), Jason had just gotten paid so he had the $908.00 to have it fixed, which TOTALLY drained his bank account – so now he has no money to pay his other bills. Not to mention that rent is due on Tuesday. Fun times!!! π€¬π€¬π€¬π€π€π€π₯Ίπ₯Ίπ₯Ί
Did you ever just want to not be here anymore? I am not suicidal, but if a giant asteroid came falling from the sky and slammed into my head, I don’t know that I would be that upset about it. lol But seriously, do you ever feel like life is throwing just a LITTLE too much crap your direction? If you can relate, PLEASE tell me how you get through those times?
Anyway, I have to say that I am SO happy and lucky to have Jason (and Bonnie, of course) in my life and I am hereby publicly telling him how much he means to me and that I truly appreciate all his patience, love and support through all of this!!! He and Bonnie are my FAMILY and I LOVE them both!!! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Sorry there are not as many Sunday Funnies this week. I have not been online at all so I have not found any funnies lately and the supply I have is dwindling.
Here is hoping that YOUR weekend is slightly more fun than mine! lol!

Hi, Jason.
You’re not alone, and it will get better. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. I was fortunate that I had symptoms and a gastroenterologist who was paying attention. I underwent chemotherapy for several weeks during which I contracted a systemic infection so severe that I was hospitalized for days while they flooded my system with antibiotics used for drug-resistant bacteria. Then I underwent radiation therapy and was hospitalized again – this time for pneumonia and a pulmonary embolism (for which I am still taking a blood thinner). Then I went in for surgery during which they removed the bottom third of my esophagus, the top third of my stomach, stitched them back together and pulled what remained of my stomach up through my diaphragm. After all of that I ended up in the hospital yet again with a kidney stone – terrible pain, but as I sat in the waiting room whimpering and throwing up into an emesis bag, I realized that after the surgery it was amazing that I could, in fact, vomit. They had put everything back together correctly. I’m now two years cancer free and hoping I remain that way. Be strong. You will get better. Best, Doug
Hey Doug! Thank you for sharing your very personal and amazing journey with cancer! I am also very happy that you have been cancer free for 2 years! That sounds like a very trying and physically and emotionally taxing time in your life! I hope I am half as strong as you have been! Thanks again for sharing!
I think a lot of us can relate to that feeling of not wanting to continue down whatever path life threw us upon. Sometimes it’s very difficult to find a way to a different, easier path. And no matter what, there will always be obstacles and hardships. Without those, the good times wouldn’t feel as good.
I wish you didn’t have those feelings of not wanting to be here. You’re a good person, and we can’t afford to lose any more good ones, especially nowadays. For me, it has helped to focus on the things I’m grateful for. I have had spinal surgeries. I had a brain surgery that required the surgeon to remove part of my brain. During that surgery, I had a stroke. I woke up unable to walk or stand without falling. The surgery that was supposed to be my miracle cure, only made matters worse. I could not return to my well-paying job in the trades in which I worked so hard and sacrificed so much to be successful. I couldn’t pay any bills because I had no income, and couldn’t function enough to work or even take care of myself. If not for my brother and a couple dear friends, I would have lost my home that I worked so hard to earn. Physical therapy hurts, but I listened to my body, changed some of those exercises, and I’m slowly recovering. It’s taking a long time, and my surgeons are telling me the stroke caused permanent damage that I’ll never fully recover from. But I’m here. I have more time to enjoy my loved ones. I have more time to interact with people like you. I have more time to watch episodes of ALF. π My point is, as long as we are still breathing, there’s a possibility of a better life. And the ability to share it with the ones we love the most. Gather those people (and doggo) and embrace them. Weather the storm together. Then celebrate the triumphs together as well. Just look around and you’ll see there’s so much to be grateful for, my friend. You’re still HERE. That’s a great place to start. π
Thank you, Kevin! You bring up a very important way to try to cope – gratitude. I do have a lot to be grateful for, I need to get better at reminding myself what those things are. At times I feel like a big whiny baby dealing with some painful things and losing some things that a lot of people take for granted… Things like losing the feeling in my hands and then not being able to feel what Bonnie’s fur feels like. But I have lots of things that a lot of people do not. I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach, and wonderful people like YOU that help me realize that things will be OK. Thank you for that! β€οΈ
Thank you for the kind words. I truly appreciate them.
Don’t feel like you’re a big whiny baby. You’re not. You are dealing with a lot and it’s normal and healthy to be feeling all sorts of emotions right now. Anytime we have to experience something we haven’t yet, there’s an uneasy feeling. At least, that’s how it is for me. We are dealing with the unknown. But I believe you are going to get through tomorrow just beautifully. Then you will take each day one step at a time until you are fully recovered and back to feeling amazing. I know you have it in you. Each day brings you closer to the quality of life you desire and deserve.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but the night before my first huge spinal surgery, I was terrified. I didn’t want my loved ones to know how scared I was. As I lay in bed contemplating the events of the next day, I thought back to my childhood. I remembered the one thing that brought me peace when I was frightened or sad. The one thing that allowed me to let my guard down when I felt alone in the world. I fell asleep that night sobbing to Kermit The Frog singing “Rainbow Connection”. π I thought of everyone and everything that brought me the most love and joy in my life. Of course I wanted to recover and get better for myself, but seeing their faces in my mind gave me the extra strength to work harder to make it happen.
You have a better existence within reach. You will get there. I know I’ve never met you, but I’m sending you more positivity than you’ll ever know what to do with. And I know much brighter days are ahead. You got this. β€οΈ
Thank you, Kevin for helping put my mind at ease. I am going to hold you to the promise that much brighter days are ahead! LOL π
